Buzzer — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Buzzer is a workout timer for functional fitness training (WODs). It is built so that your data stays on your phone. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves the device and when.
Who we are
Buzzer is developed by Mihai Baciu (Brașov, Romania). Contact: use Settings → Send feedback in the app, or the support email on the store listing.
What Buzzer stores, and where
- Your workouts and results: WODs you build, workout results, splits, notes, the name you type in Settings and your settings. They are stored only in Buzzer's local database on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in and no Buzzer server.
- Videos: recorded only when you turn on Record video. The finished video (with the clock burned in) is kept by the app and saved to your phone's Photos, in an album called Buzzer. The raw recording is deleted once the finished video has been checked.
Deleting the app deletes its database and the videos kept inside the app. Videos already saved to Photos stay there until you delete them.
What leaves your phone
- Nothing automatically, except an update check. When Buzzer starts, it asks Expo's update service (expo.dev, operated by 650 Industries, Inc.) whether a bug-fix update of the app is available, and downloads it if there is one. This request contains technical information only: the app version and build, the update channel, the platform (Android or iOS). It contains no workout data, no name, no videos and no advertising identifier. Expo's privacy policy: https://expo.dev/privacy.
- Files you export or share. CSV history, JSON backups and videos leave the app only when you tap Export or Share and pick a destination yourself in the system share sheet.
- Class Board (only if you use it). Class Board shows a gym class on a TV. When you send a class to a TV paired with your phone, the class (section titles, movements, reps, loads, the clock settings) and the remote commands (Start, Pause, Next…) travel from your phone to the TV through a relay that forwards messages and stores nothing: Supabase Realtime (Supabase, Inc.; privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy), or over Google Cast on your local network. The TV page is served by Vercel (https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy). Pairing uses a random screen code; no name, account or workout result is sent.
- Class links you share. Share as link puts the class inside the part of the link after
#, which browsers never send to a server; the link's page only shows the class to whoever opens it. - Feedback you send. Send feedback opens your own email app with a message you can read and edit before sending. It includes the app version and phone model, and the last error report only if you agree.
What Buzzer does not do
No ads. No analytics. No tracking across apps or websites. No selling or sharing of data. No location. No contacts. No third-party SDKs that collect data.
Permissions
Each permission is asked the first time a feature needs it, never at install:
| Permission | Why | If you refuse |
|---|---|---|
| Camera, microphone | Filming a workout with Record video; the camera also scans the TV's code in Class Board | Workouts run without video; the TV's code can be typed instead |
| Photos / media | Saving the finished video to your gallery | The video stays in the app and can still be shared |
| Notifications (Android 13+) | The ongoing notification that keeps the timer and its sounds running with the screen off | Sounds may be delayed in the background on some phones |
Children
Buzzer is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published at the same address with a new date, and the app's Privacy page is updated in the next release.
